2017 Playa Del Rey Triathlon Cancelled
With a heavy heart I unfortunately must announce the cancellation of the 2017 edition of the Playa Del Rey Triathlon. Our 10 year anniversary was going to be a big celebration, but it will have to wait another year.

I have been dealing with some minor personal health issues that, as a one-person race production company, have disrupted the planning necessary to provide a quality event.

I apologize to all the participants who have come to enjoy this event each October. Many of you have competed in almost every event since 2008. I hope you will come back next year for a belated 10 year anniversary celebration.

I began the Playa Del Rey Triathlon in 2008, a year after graduating from college, with the desire to put on a great event that would also be a fundraiser for the local collegiate triathlon teams that were so much a part of my life while in college. Since 2008 we have raised over $40,000 for the UCLA and USC Triathlon Teams. We have also given over 100 college students key leadership opportunities as they have helped organize and produce this race each year. Thank you to everyone who has made my dream possible and I hope you will continue to support us in the future.

See you next year,
Marcus George

Course
The UCLA Health Playa Del Rey Triathlon is located at Dockweiler State Beach in Playa Del Rey. A course map is provided below or view an interactive Google map by clicking here. You can also view some photos of the course here.

600m / 1500m Ocean Swim. The swim is located adjacent to the transition area at Dockweiler Beach. Water temperatures are expected to be in the low to mid 60s. Wetsuits are recommended. Competitors will be sent off in separate waves, spaced 7 minutes apart.

20K / 40K Bike. The bike course is a one-lap (sprint) or two-lap (Olympic) counter-clockwise loop, involving portions of Vista Del Mar, Imperial Hwy, Pershing Dr., and Westchester Parkway. The course has good pavement and is mostly flat, aside from some gradual rollers along Westchester Parkway. Roads are almost entirely closed to vehicle traffic and times should be very fast save for some strong headwinds that often blow through the area.

5K / 10K Run. The run course is an out and back loop along the Dockweiler service road (sprint & Olympic) and Ballona Creek Bike Path (Olympic). Completely flat, competitors can expect extremely fast run times. Aid stations will be located at the 5K turn-around and 10K turn-around.

Directions/Parking
